Windows: Uninstall programs safely
In this practical tip, we will show you how to safely uninstall programs from Windows.
Option 1: Uninstall programs using the Control Panel
- Under "Control Panel" and "Programs and Features" you can view and uninstall installed programs. Just double click on the desired program and the uninstall process starts. This is the easiest way to uninstall programs.
- Note: You have to manually delete the remaining files and folders. Registry entries are also not deleted. With the "CCleaner" this can be done quickly.
Option 2: Safely remove programs with the Revo Uninstaller
With the freeware "Revo Uninstaller" you can uninstall programs and remaining files, folders and registry entries safely and quickly:
- With a double click on the desired file you can choose how it should be uninstalled. It is divided into different procedures: "Installed" only starts the uninstaller supplied with the respective software. "Safe" is the fastest mode, since only the most important data is deleted here. "Moderate" searches for remaining files and registry entries in the usual locations on the hard disk. "Advanced" searches the entire PC for entries, files and folders that are connected to the application and thus forms the slowest mode.
- After successful uninstallation, all modes except "Built-in" are searched for files, folders and registry entries that are connected to the program. These are then displayed in a list. Here you can mark the files and folders to be deleted and then remove them from your PC.
- In addition to the simple uninstallation, the "Revo Uninstaller" has numerous other functions. For example, you can search Google for the program and / or the manufacturer, open the manufacturer's page and search for updates. The installation folder and the key can also be displayed in the Windows registry. You can access these functions by right-clicking on the respective program.
- Under the "Tools" button you will find other useful settings such as the "AutoRun Manager", with which you can configure the programs when Windows starts.
