Windows: Reverse scroll direction - how it works
With Windows there is no specific setting option with which the scroll direction can be reversed. With an intervention, this can still be done. You can use it to change the mouse wheel and trackpad so that the scroll direction corresponds to the wiping up on the Mac.
Windows: Reverse scroll direction in the registry
- Open the "Run" tool with the key combination Windows + R or by simply typing "Run" in the search field in the Start menu or in Windows 8 on the start page and clicking the found entry.
- Enter "regedit" and confirm with the Enter key. You may have to answer "Yes" to a computer security question.
- Navigate to the "HKEYLOCALMACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Enum / HID" directory.
- There are several folders under HID that can vary. Open each folder by clicking the small arrow and also open the respective subfolder.
- In one of the subfolders you will find the entry "FlipFlopWheel". Right click on it and select "Change".
- Change the value from 0 to 1 and confirm with "OK".
- Close the registry and restart your computer. The scroll direction is now reversed.
In the next practical tip we will show you how to change the key assignment of the mouse in Windows 7.
