Windows: Save still image from video - so it'll work
In Windows, you can easily save a still image from a video. We recommend the free software VLC Media Player, which is also ideally suited for playback. Our instructions will help you create the still image.
Save still image from video - this is how it works under Windows
- The easiest way to save a still image from a video is to use the free VLC Media Player software. Download the program from our download area and install it.
- Then open the corresponding video in the VLC Player and click on "View" in the menu bar.
- Now put a tick in "Extended control" by simply clicking the field with the left mouse button.
- Then select the "Settings" tab under "Tools" and click on "Video" above.
- Under "Video Snapshots" specify a directory in which your still images are to be saved. You can also choose the format you want. Then confirm by clicking on "Save".
- With the button "Take a video snapshot" at the bottom left you can now take a still picture that will be saved in the folder you specified.
