Windows Store: Installation is not possible - you can do that
If you get the error message "It is not possible to install" for the Windows Store, neither the Windows apps nor essential Windows updates work properly. Read here how to fix the problem.
SFC scan: Installation in the Windows Store is not possible
The Windows Store occupies an important place in Windows 10. Because in the store you update many programs that you use on your computer. With the error message "Installation not possible", all Windows apps are often grayed out and cannot be started.
- First use the SFC scan to check whether system files have been damaged.
- Press the Windows key and then type "cmd" without the quotes.
- Right-click the result of the same name and select "Run as administrator".
- A black window opens. Now enter this command here: sfc / scannow
- Confirm with the Enter key and wait until the verification is complete. This can take a few minutes.
- If a corrupt file is found, Windows will automatically fix it.
More options to fix the problem
If no system files are damaged, it is possible that the Windows Store will be blocked. This is mostly related to antivirus programs that are suddenly no longer compatible after an update.
- Before proceeding, restart your PC and check if this may have fixed the problem. If the Windows Store installation is still not possible, uninstall your antivirus programs.
- Uninstall simple scanners like CCleaner & Co.
- Then restart your computer. The Windows Store apps should now work again.
- Set up Windows Defender so that you don't work on your computer without virus protection. Since an update in mid-2018, the in-house virus protection has even been able to measure itself against the payment competitor. It also has the advantage that incompatibility problems with other programs of the operating system rarely occur.
