If the Windows taskbar is visible on 2 monitors, save yourself annoying back and forth with the mouse when working with two screens. Only since Windows 8 can this practical feature be configured via the Windows system properties. But even under Windows 7 you don't have to do without a task bar on the second monitor.
Short ways to new tasks: Show taskbar on two monitors
Note that you can only make the configurations described if the second screen is already installed. If you are working with Windows 8 or a more recent Windows operating system, proceed as follows.
- Right-click on an empty space in the task bar. In the open dropdown menu, scroll to the last entry "Properties" and open the context menu with one click. You can also access this menu via the click path "Control Panel" -> "Appearance and Personalization" -> "Taskbar and Navigation".
- In the open context menu, check the box "Show taskbar on all display devices". Confirm the change by clicking "Apply" and close the menu with "OK".
- If you are working with Windows 7, you will unfortunately not be able to show the taskbar on the second monitor as easily. You have to use an external tool. The free software Dual Monitor, which not only brings the taskbar to the second screen, but also a notification center, has proven itself. However, this software is only available with an English language interface.
