Windows Update notifies you of new system updates by default. However, you can deactivate these notifications. You can read how to do this in this guide.
Disable Windows Update notification
Windows Update offers you various options to deal with the updates. If you do not want to receive notifications, you must either configure Windows so that new updates are installed automatically, or that Windows does not check for updates at all:
- In the Windows Control Panel, click "Windows Update". Users of the category view first select "System and Security".
- On the left side, choose the "Change Settings" option.
- In the "Important updates" area, select either "Install updates automatically (recommended)" or "Never check for updates (not recommended)" if you no longer wish to receive notifications in the future. The other two options will notify you when updates are available.
- Click "OK" to apply the changes.
- In the Windows Control Panel, in the "System and Security" category, click "Maintenance Center".
- Then select the entry "Change maintenance center settings" on the left.
- In the "Security Messages" area, remove the checkmark from "Windows Update" and complete the process with "Ok".
