Microsoft Tool: Track and fix Winodws update errors
Microsoft has released a tool that you can use to search for problems and solve them straight away:
- You can download the free program from the Microsoft website.
- After you have started the wizard, confirm the process by clicking "Next". He then examines the PC for Windows update errors.
- After a successful scan, the tool automatically fixes all problems. This process can take some time.
Windows update failed - that's still possible
If the Microsoft tool cannot fix your error, you should try another solution:
- Before installing, check that your hard drive has enough free space.
- Turn off your antivirus system while checking for and installing updates, as some updates are incorrectly identified as viruses. For the security of the PC you have to reactivate it later!
- Your PC must be connected to the Internet during the update search. You should pause downloads and other updates.
- Problems with updates under Windows 8 are also common. You can find an associated patch on the Microsoft website that corrects the problem.
- If you use Windows 7, you should refrain from installing driver software. This can lead to complications.
- Microsoft also helps you with a free tool that prepares your system updates. The program is available for Windows 7 and Vista and for Windows 8 and 8.1. Among other things, this will help you to fix the common errors "0x80070057" and "0x80070002".
- To install updates, you must also have the latest version of the .Net framework installed.
