Windows XP is no longer updated, but is still used frequently. This practical tip explains how to set up an Internet connection in the system.
Windows XP: How to set up an Internet connection
The easiest way to set it up is through the wizard.
- Click "Start" to go to "Control Panel" and there to "Network and Internet Connections".
- Once here, click on "Set up or change your own Internet connection".
- In the "Internet Properties" dialog box, click "Setup" to start the wizard. Click on Continue".
- In the following window, activate "Connect to the Internet" and click "Next" again.
- This is followed by the "Preparation" window. Select "Set up connection manually" and confirm with "Next".
- For a DSL connection, select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password" in the following window.
- After clicking on "Next", the user name and password are requested. Enter the data you received from your internet provider here.
- If your information is correct, click "Next" to go to the window for completing the setup.
