The Windows Character Map gives you an overview of the entire character set that a font can represent. You can also use it to copy characters and paste them into your document. For example, you can also select special characters from the character table.
Find the character map in Windows 7
In Windows 7, you can find the character map in two different ways:
- Click on "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "Character Map".
- Alternatively, you can enter "charmap" in the search field in the start menu.
Call up the Windows character table under Windows 8
The following method works on all Windows operating systems, including Windows 8 and Windows XP:
- Press the key combination [Windows] + [R] to open the "Run" window.
- Enter "charmap" in the window that appears.
- Click "OK" or press [Enter].
