Build a windshield for the microphone yourself
If you need a windshield / pop filter for your microphone, you can easily and inexpensively build it yourself. You save so much money for expensive pop filters, especially with unusual microphone sizes
Build a micro windshield yourself
- A windscreen made from a cleaning sponge is relatively simple and effective: Simply cut a hole for the microphone in the cleaning sponge and then remove the remaining protruding areas (see picture).
- To do this, you should first roughly pre-cut with scissors and then cut out the subtleties with nail scissors.
- A sponge costs around 20 cents in the supermarket and is also suitable for somewhat larger microphones. You can simply paint over the bright colors of the sponges with a felt pen or edding.
- If your microphone is too big for the sponge, small pieces of cloth will help. The fabric should be relatively thin. A fur-like fabric is of course best suited against the wind. With needle and thread you can sew a kind of cap for the microphone from the fabric. If you enjoy sewing, we will also show you how to sew a bag yourself.
