Windows process winlogon.exe - harmful or not?
- The winlogon.exe process is mainly responsible for logging on and off on Windows. However, the service also detects when new hardware has been connected and also checks the activation of Windows.
- The process can be found in the path "C: \ Windows \ System32" by default. The winlogon.exe file belongs to Windows and should therefore not be closed or deleted.
- In rare cases, malware can take the name of the actually benign process. This can be checked, for example, on the VirusTotal website.
