Winrar: Specify a fixed target directory
If you often unzip ZIP or RAR files with WinRAR, it can save you a lot of work if you set a fixed target directory. We'll show you how it's done.
Winrar: Specify a fixed target directory
- Start WinRAR or open any file via WinRAR.
- Click on "Options" in the menu bar at the top and select "Settings".
- A new window opens in which you switch to the "Compression" tab.
- Under the category "Standard directory for extracted files" you can use the "Search" button to specify a desired path.
- You can set or remove the two options below to display the archive and directory name.
- If you then unpack an archive by right-clicking on the context menu, the files are automatically exported to the specified path.
This practical tip shows you how to protect an archive with a password using WinRAR.
