Connect the WLAN printer to the FritzBox - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to connect your WLAN printer to your FritzBox.
Adjust the settings of the FritzBox
In order to be able to use the WLAN printer, the DHCP server must be activated in the FritzBox.
- Call up the user interface of the FritzBox by entering "//fritz.box/" in the address bar of your browser. Log in with your password.
- Select the item "System" and then "View".
- In order for you to see the entry for activating the DHCP server, you must activate the "Extended view". Confirm the selection by clicking the "Apply" button.
- Then select the "Home network" item and navigate to the "Network" sub-item.
- Click on the "Network Settings" and select the "IPv4 Addresses" option.
- Now check the DHCP server. Then enter a DHCP range (for example from "192.168.178.20" to "192.168.178.100"). Click OK".
Register the WLAN printer in the FritzBox
So that the WLAN printer also has access to the network, you have to make a few settings in the FritzBox. To do this, go back to the FritzBox user interface.
- Select the item "WLAN" and click on "Wireless network".
- Check the box "The WLAN devices displayed may communicate with each other". Finally click on "Apply".
Connect the WiFi printer to the network
- Use your printer to find the name of your wireless network.
- Enter the password (if necessary). Your printer is now connected to the FritzBox and can be addressed by other computers in the network.
