We show you how to set up the WiFi from a new router in Windows 7. With our instructions, this works in just a few steps.
Connect WiFi in Windows 7
- Click the network icon on the right of the taskbar.
- The wireless networks in your area are shown directly to you.
- Click on the device name of your router and select "Connect".
- You will then be asked to enter the network security key.
- Confirm with "Ok". The connection is then established.
Set up wireless network manually
- Right-click the network icon on the taskbar.
- Select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
- Click Manage Wireless Networks on the left, and then click Add.
- In the new window called "Manually connect to a wireless network" select "Create a network profile manually".
- Then enter the network name, security and encryption type and the security key. You can view this information in your router configuration. If necessary, check "Automatically start this connection and click" Next ".
- The network is now added. You can see it in the "Manage Wireless Networks" screen.
- If you locate the new network in the list above, an attempt will be made to connect to it first.
