WLAN hard drives can be particularly interesting for smartphone owners with little storage space. In this comparison, we present the most popular WLAN hard drives and their specifications.
1. WLAN hard drive: Intenso Memory 2 Move 500 GB
The Intenso WLAN hard drive is available in three versions. You can buy the model with 250GB, 500GB or 1000GB.
- You can currently buy the 1 TB model of the 3.5 cm thick "Memory 2 Move" for around 92 euros.
- Intenso provides an app for both Android and iOS that allows you to access the hard drive wirelessly. Of course, this also works on Windows and Mac. Movies and other large files no longer need to use up your internal storage space.
- You can also use the app to create folders and activate password protection. Furthermore, up to five people can access the device at the same time.
- Technically speaking, the hard disk offers transfer rates of approximately 85 MB / s (read) and 75 MB / s (write) via USB 3.0 and approximately 1.26 MB / s (write) and 1.92 MB / s (read) via WLAN.
2. WLAN hard drive: Seagate Wireless Plus
Seagate also offers you three versions of the Wireless Plus hard disk. So you can choose between a model with 500 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB.
- The 1 TB version is currently available from 155 euros in online retail and just 2 centimeters thick.
- There is also an app for the "Wireless Plus" that is available for Android, Kindle Fire and iOS devices.
- Not only can eight people access the Seagate hard drive at the same time, you can also create multiple users who only have access to certain folders.
- In the classic way via USB 3.0, the hard drive achieves transfer rates of around 82 MByte / s (read) and 81 MByte / s (write). With wireless transmission, the data is written at approximately 1.4 MB / s and read at 2.6 MB / s.

3. WLAN hard drive: WD My Passport Wireless
The "My Passport Wireless" is also available with 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB memory.
- The 1 TB version can be purchased online from 149 euros.
- In contrast to the other models, the 2.4 cm thick hard disk offers an additional SD card slot. So you can also conveniently access the photos of your camera on your smartphone.
- With the mandatory app, which is available for both iOS and Android, up to eight people can access the hard drive and protect it with a password.
- When reading and writing via USB 3.0, the device achieves an average transfer rate of up to 90 MByte / s. For the wireless connection, the manufacturer states that up to four people can stream HD videos at the same time.
