It makes sense to create a WiFi hotspot on the PC if you want to supply your smartphone or another PC or laptop with Internet. We show you how you can create the hotspot both manually and using additional software.
Create a WiFi hotspot on the PC
- Windows does come with its own function for creating a WiFi hotspot, but it is a little awkward to activate, especially for laypeople.

Internet tethering on the PC via "mHotspot"
With mHotspot you can supply other computers and smartphones with Internet. The tethering tool shares the existing Internet connection of a PC or laptop with any number of other devices via WiFi. How to create the hotspot on the PC:
- After downloading and installing the freeware, enter a name for the network and assign a password (see screenshot).
- Then select that you want to share the connection via a wireless network connection. Optionally, you can specify the number of users who are allowed to log into your network.
- With a click on "Start Hotspot" the internet connection of your laptop or PC is shared and you can access it from other devices with the password.
