Optimize WiFi network via Android app - is that possible?
If the WiFi connection is poor, you can use an Android app to search for and optimize your network for sources of interference. This is easy to master even for beginners and usually brings you an enormous increase in reception quality.
Optimize WiFi with WiFi Analyzer
With the free Android app "WiFi Analyzer" you can check your network for interference transmitters and interference channels. WLAN networks in your area weaken your own signal if they are on the same channel. We'll show you how to find and set the right channel for your network.
- Download the Android app "WiFi Analyzer" from the Play Store.
- If you are in the WiFi network with your mobile phone, the app starts a scan immediately, which shows you detailed information about the signal strength. Swiping left and right allows you to switch to the different results.
- We are interested in the graphical view of the available WLAN networks per channel. Here you can see immediately whether your network overlaps or overlaps with others. Now look for a channel that is as free as possible from WiFi networks - also in the neighboring channels of the view.
- The free channel now only needs to be set in your router as a new signal channel.
Change WLAN channel with Speedport Router
- In the browser of your PC, enter the address "speedport.ip /" in the address bar. Then log in as usual with your device password.
- Under "Network", select the entry "WLAN" from the list.
- Here you can set the channel according to your results from the app - don't forget to save!
Change the WLAN channel with the FRITZ! Router
- Call up the address "//fritz.box" in your browser. Now you have to log in to the router setup with your password.
- After clicking on "WLAN" you select the "radio settings" - here you can adjust the settings of your WLAN.
- Finally, under "Select radio channel" you have to set the previously determined channel and apply the changes - your reception should now improve significantly.
