WLAN repeater does not work - this may be the reason
You can use a WLAN repeater to bridge the WLAN. If this does not work properly, you can usually fix this error quickly. Read in this practical tip how to do this.
WLAN repeater does not work - you can do that
- Make sure that you have set up the repeater correctly.
- Make sure that the WiFi repeater is not too far away from the router, otherwise the signal could be too weak. Interference devices such as microwaves or loudspeakers also obstruct the signal.
- For the repeater to work, you should set the WPA-2 encryption in the router. You can usually find these under "WLAN" and "Security".
- It usually helps if you briefly reset the repeater. Simply press and hold the "Reset" button on the bottom or disconnect the power supply for about 10 seconds.
- In principle, the firmware of your router should also be up to date so that there are no problems with the repeater.
- You often have to assign a fixed IP address to the router so that you can use the repeater. Use the following instructions for this: Vodaone: Set fixed P address, Telekom: Set fixed IP address, Fritzbox: Set fixed IP address & Unitymedia: Set fixed IP address
- Try setting up the WiFi repeater using WPS. First press the WPS button on your router and then on the repeater to establish a connection. If this does not work either, there may be a defect and you should replace the device.
Alternatively, you can also use your cell phone as a WiFi repeater.
