WLAN stick is not recognized - you can do that
If your PC does not have a WLAN card, you can retrofit the wireless interface with a WLAN stick. If this is not recognized, it may be due to a defective connection. Find out in this practical tip what you can do about it.
WLAN stick is not recognized - what to do?
- Always insert the WLAN stick directly and without an additional cable into the respective USB port on the PC.
- The connection may also be defective. Therefore, test another USB port on the PC.
- You may have to download the appropriate driver for the stick. First go to "Control Panel"> "Device Manager" and look for the WLAN stick.
- If the stick is listed there, right-click on it and select "Update driver software".
- In some cases it also helps if you select "Uninstall" instead of "Update driver". Then restart your PC and try again.
- Test the WLAN stick on another PC. If this is recognized there without any errors, there may be a problem with your USB connection.
- However, if the stick is not recognized there either, it is defective and you should replace it.
