With the WPS method, you can connect WLAN devices such as network printers, computers or repeaters to your Fritzbox. You don't need any passwords or complicated setup procedures.
Activate the WPS procedure on the Fritzbox
When delivered, the WPS function on the Fritzbox is already activated. You should only follow this first step if you have deactivated it.
- Call up the user interface of your Fritzbox. Simply enter "fritz.box" in the address bar of your browser.
- Click on "WLAN" in the menu on the left and then on "Security" (see picture).
- Now open the tab "WPS Quick Connection" at the top.
- Place a checkmark in front of "WPS active".
- Then select the "Push button method" and click on the "Start WPS" button.
Establish a connection between a computer and the Fritzbox
If you want to connect a computer to your network via WLAN but do not know the password, you can use the WPS procedure.
- If you are using Windows 7, 8 or 10, click on the WLAN symbol in the task bar at the bottom right.
- Now select yours from the list of radio networks and click on "Connect".
- Instead of entering the WiFi password, you can hold down the "WiFi" button on the router for six seconds. The router and PC then find themselves and establish a connection.
Set up a connection between the Fritzbox and other WLAN devices
With the WPS method, you can connect not only computers, but also WLAN devices such as network printers or repeaters.
- Press the "WLAN" button on the router for six seconds until it starts to flash.
- Now search for the wireless network with the WLAN device. You will usually find a "WPS" or "WLAN" button, which you must also hold down for six seconds. If you do not find such a button, look in the manual of the WLAN device for the connection option.
- If you have activated the mutual search on both devices, the two devices will automatically find and connect to each other.
- Please note that the connection can only be established within 120 seconds after pressing the "WLAN" button. If you have not established a connection after this time, press the "WLAN" button again
If your Fritzbox is working very slowly, it can help if you update the Fritzbox firmware.
