Wi-Fi connected but no internet: It can be because of that
If you are connected to the WLAN but there is still no internet available, this is often due to incorrect settings. We show you step by step what can be the cause and what you can do about it.
First aid: No internet despite WiFi connection
- In many cases, it already helps if you restart your computer or smartphone, as well as the router. This eliminates errors in the buffer.
- To do this, disconnect the router completely from the power. Wait around 10 seconds until you supply the device with power again. Otherwise, the router may be damaged.
- If you still cannot access the Internet, try connecting to another device. If this works, the problem is not with the Internet.
- Connect your computer to the router using a LAN cable. If you can now access the Internet, the problem is only with the WLAN and not with the Internet itself.
- Deleting the WLAN profiles can also help. You can then establish a new connection to your WLAN. However, this is only helpful if all other devices in the WLAN work otherwise.
WLAN connected but no internet - you can do that
- In rare cases, anti-virus programs or additionally installed firewalls can cause problems with the WLAN. Switch off such programs for a short time to exclude them as a source of errors.
- If the problem persists, you should take a look at the settings of your router. Check there if there are any problems with the connection. If you have no internet at all, you should contact your provider directly. Here you will find instructions on how to access the router.
- Also check the proxy settings on your computer. You should deactivate the "Use proxy server for LAN" option in the event of WLAN problems. Here you will find instructions for Windows 10 and for older versions of Windows.
No internet despite WLAN: provider disruption
- If you still haven't been able to solve the problem, you should contact your internet provider directly. The technical support can check from the head office whether everything is currently correct with your connection and your router.
- Before contacting your provider, you should first make sure that this is not a general malfunction. If you find several thousand reports on the AlleStault.de website, it is probably a far-reaching problem.
- In this case, it only helps to wait. Customer service cannot help you with this either. You can save yourself the minute-long waiting loop.
So that your Internet always runs perfectly, you will find the best DSL providers without throttling.
