Convert and play WLMP files - how it works
If you have found a WLMP file on your computer, you can only convert and play it with special software. In this practical tip, we will show you how it's done.
Open WLMP file: what is it actually?
- The abbreviation WLMP stands for "Windows Live Movie Maker Project". This is an edited video in Windows Movie Maker.
- However, the video was only cut and edited in the WLMP file. You have to create a finished video from it first.
- The Movie Maker is part of Windows Essentials 2012. Download the software and install the Movie Maker if it is not already installed.
Convert and play WLMP file - how it works
- If you have installed Windows Movie Maker, you can simply open the WLMP file with a double click.
- Alternatively, you can start the Movie Maker and open the WLMP file manually via the menu in the top left.
- Now you can see the content of the WLMP file and play the created video.
- If you are satisfied with the video, click on the menu in the top right corner and select "For computer" under "Save film".
- Select a storage location, change the video format if desired and click on the "Save" button.
- The video is now created in the specified path. You can then play the video with Windows Media Player or other programs.
