Where does iTunes save backup files?
If you know where iTunes stores your backup files, you can copy individual backups. We'll show you where to find the backup files.
iTunes: Here you will find the backup files
Depending on the operating system, you will find the backups in a different location:
- All Mac users can find the backup folder within the home directory: "~ / Library / Application Support / MobileSync / Backup /" (see screenshot).
- Windows 7, 8 and 10 users will find it in the path "C: \ Users \ [USER] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Apple Computer \ MobileSync \ Backup \". Replace the [USER] section with your current Windows user name and copy the path into the address bar of the Windows Explorer.
- There are some changes in the path in Windows XP; the correct link here is: "C: \ Documents and Settings \ [USER] \ Application Data \ Apple Computer \ MobileSync \ Backup \". Otherwise, proceed as with the other versions of Windows.
- Note: Don't be surprised at the names of the folders. Most backups are named using very long strings. A folder stands for the backup of a device at a certain time.
