Install Woocommerce on Wordpress - Here's how
With WooCommerce for WordPress you install a free online shop. Here we explain which requirements your webspace has to have and how the installation works.
WooCommerce for Wordpress: minimum installation requirements
In order for the shop to be installed on your WordPress site, the following requirements must be met:
- PHP version 5.2.4 (PHP 5.6 or higher is recommended)
- MySQL Version 5.0 (MySQL 5.6 or higher is recommended)
- WooCommerce 2.5 requires WordPress 4.1+
- WooCommerce 2.6 requires WordPress 4.4+
- Some payment interfaces also require fsockopen (for IPN)
Install WooCommerce automatically
The fastest method is the automatic installation via the backend:
- Log in as admin in your WordPress backend.
- Navigate to "Plugins" in the left menu bar.
- Click "Install" and then type "WooCommerce" in the search bar.
- In the next step click on the button "Install now".
- Depending on the web server, the installation may take a moment.
- You will then see the option to activate the plugin next to the "WooCommerce" entry.
- As soon as you click on "Activation", WooCommerce starts the configuration process. This is self-explanatory and asks you step by step for the necessary information, such as location, currency and payment methods. Your shop is then ready for use.
Install WooCommerce manually
If automatic installation is not possible, you can also bring the shop to the web server manually:
- Download WooCommerce as a zip file from WordPress.org onto your computer.
- Unzip the zip file e.g. B. with 7-Zip or another unpacker.
- Dial in via FTP on your web server.
- Upload the extracted folder to the plugin directory (/ wp-content / plugins /).
- Then log in to your WordPress backend.
- Navigate to Plugins in the left menu.
- Activate the WooCommerce plugin and then the configuration will also start here.
