Word 2007: Format table of contents
If you create a table of contents in Word 2007, you can format it as you like with just a few clicks. This helps you, for example, when creating a dotted line between the entry and the page number.
How to format a table of contents in Word 2007
- Create your table of contents in a Word document and then click on the "Table of contents" button in the "References" menu.
- Below the templates you will find the "Insert table of contents" item. This opens a new dialog box in which you can make various settings.
- Now you can, for example, select a dotted, dashed or no line at all under the "Fill characters" item for the space between text and page number. You can also try out different styles under "General".
- To format the text, you must select the "From template" format and click "Change". Then a new window opens in which you can select a style and customize it with "change": Font, font size and paragraph formatting are just a few of the many options.
- Finally you have to confirm all changes with "Ok" to finish formatting your table of contents.
