Word 2013: Edit PDF directly in Word
You can edit PDF files directly in Word 2013. You can read how you can do this in this practical tip.
Step 1: Open and edit PDF in Word - how it works
To edit a PDF file with Word, you must first convert it to a Word format (.docx). This may result in some file information being lost, which is why your new file may look slightly different from the original file. Differences can occur, particularly with many images in the source document, but these can be repaired relatively easily.
- Navigate in the browser to the PDF file that you want to edit.
- Right-click the file and navigate to the "Open With" option in the context menu.
- Select "Word 2013" from the list. (see image)
- Confirm the next message with "OK" and wait a moment until Word has converted your file.
- After a few seconds you will see your PDF file on the screen and can edit it with all the usual functions of Word 2013.
Step 2: How to save your edited document as a PDF
If you have edited your file in Word, convert the document back into a PDF file.
- Press the F12 key (shortcut for "Save As").
- Navigate to the directory where you want to save your PDF.
- Now open the "File type" dropdown menu and select "PDF".
- Click "Save" and Word will convert your file back into PDF format.
