Word: Insert current date automatically - how it works
If you want to automatically insert a current date into documents in the word processing program Word, this is not a problem. We'll show you how.
Insert the current date in the Word document
With invoices or other document templates, it is practical to keep the date up to date automatically. This saves work and prevents accidental mistakes.
- Open your document in Word. In the "Insert" menu tab, click on the "Quick blocks field" item.
- In the dialog window, look for "Date" in the "Select field" area.
- In the "Field properties" area, select the desired display format for the date.
- If you check "Keep formatting on update", the date will be updated each time the document is opened.
- If you would like to insert the current date into a single document, you can do this conveniently with the key combination [ALT] + [SHIFT] + [D].
