Word: pictures can not be moved - what to do?
If images can no longer be moved in your Word document, this is usually due to an incorrect setting. We'll show you how to fix it.
Word images cannot be moved - position can be changed freely:
When you insert an image into a Word document, it is inserted on one line by default and cannot be moved freely. You can change this with the following settings and arrange it freely in the document:
- Click on the picture in your Word document.
- Select the "Format" or "Image Tools" tab.
- Under the "Position" option, select any position under "With text wrapping", for example "top left".
- Your image is initially placed in the appropriate place, but can now be moved freely to a new position in the document.
If you have now arranged your picture anywhere in the document, you can now let the text flow around the picture.
