Word: Create a DVD cover - how it works
You can easily create your own DVD covers in Word and put an end to boring DVD covers. We'll show you exactly how to do this so that the cover fits into the case.
Create DVD covers in Word - this is how you do it
Even in the latest Word version (2013), there is no layout template for DVD sleeves. Therefore you have to create them yourself:
- Open a new, blank document in Word. Under "Page layout" and "Alignment" you now switch to landscape format.
- Then you have to insert a rectangle via "Insert"> "Shapes". In the "Format" menu you can enter the exact dimensions on the far right. The first rectangle becomes the back and receives the dimensions: height = 18.3 cm and width = 12.9 cm.
- Now form two more rectangles, which you create on the right of the previous square. The second rectangle is given the dimensions: height = 18.3 cm and width = 1.5 cm. This later forms the "book spine". The third rectangle is 18.3 cm high and 12.9 cm wide like the first.
- Right-click to move the frame behind the text. You can label the individual fronts as you wish by inserting a text box using "Insert" and "Text field".
- Of course, pictures shouldn't be missing either: add them via the "Insert" menu.
- Finally, all you have to do is print out your cover. If you also want to have a label on the inside, you must choose the same dimensions and print with Word on both sides.
