Word: Enter square quotes «» - how it works

In addition to the usual "quotation marks", you can also insert square quotation marks »« in Word, so-called guillemets. However, this only works with a trick. In our practical tip, we will show you how to insert the square quotes.
Enter square quotes in Word
- Press the [Ctrl] and [, ] (comma) keys simultaneously. Then add> for »and <for«.
- The keyboard shortcut works only in Word. If you need the Guillemets outside of Word, you can copy and paste them from here: »«
- If you don't always want to use the cumbersome keyboard shortcut, you can add another keyboard shortcut in the AutoCorrect options.
- To do this, click on "File" -> "Options" -> "Document Check". Here you will find the "Auto correction options" button. We explain in detail how to access the auto correction options in this separate practical tip.
- Under "Replace as you type", insert a key sequence that Word should replace with the square quotes - for example <>. To save, click on "Add" below and then confirm with "OK".
