Word: Cut out graphics - how it works
If you want to cut out graphics and use them in Microsoft Word, no special image editing program is necessary. Word has now integrated a simple function that you can use to make changes to images quickly and easily. Find out where to find the tool in this practical tip.
Cropping images in Microsoft Word
- First insert the relevant graphic in your Word document and mark it with a click of the mouse.
- In the top navigation bar you will find the button "Image Tools - Format". Choose this.
- On the far left in the menu bar you will see the "Cut out" button. If you click on it, the tool opens.
- Basically, this works quite simply: First you see a narrow blue frame over the picture. Move it so that the image section to be retained lies completely in it.
- With the purple markings, Word shows which parts of the graphic are removed. If this does not yet meet your expectations, you can make markings yourself.
- You will find suitable tools for this in the menu bar. Depending on whether you want to keep or remove parts of the image, select the tool and click on the corresponding element of the graphic. Word will then automatically adjust the marking.
- If you are satisfied, click on the green checkmark "Keep changes" at the top and the image will be cut out according to the marking.
