Word: Put half a space - how it works
For example, a half space in Word can be useful if you use abbreviations like "usually" want to avoid unsightly, large gaps. With multi-part abbreviations, automatic separations can also be prevented. We'll show you how.
Create half a space in Word
- The first step is to define a protected space by simultaneously pressing Ctrl + Shift + Spacebar at the desired position in Word.
- If you have set Word to display all characters, you will see the protected space as a small, raised circle. You can make this setting in the "Section" section of the toolbar, but it is not absolutely necessary.
- Now make a half space from the protected space: Select it, right-click on it and select "Font" in the context menu.
- A new window will open. Click the "Advanced" tab and set the value for "Scaling" to 50%. Then confirm your new setting. You have now created a half space that you can copy as you wish.
In the next article we will show you how you can change the line spacing in Word.
