Word: Paste copied text unformatted
You can find out here how to paste unformatted text copied from the clipboard into Microsoft Word. For example, formatting such as fonts, italics or HTML links are not taken into account in your Word document.
Copy-paste in Word texts without formatting
Depending on where the text in your clipboard comes from, Word has different options for formatting an inserted text passage. When copying from other programs, such as web pages from the browser, the original formatting is usually undesirable. You make the necessary settings via the Word options:
- Open the "File" tab and then the "Options". In the opened menu window ("Word Options") click on "Advanced".
- The advanced options are displayed. Under "Cut, copy and paste" you can now select the desired settings.
- In the "Insert from other programs" combo box, change the setting to "Apply text only" (see screenshot). Using other combo boxes, you can also regulate the behavior when inserting within Word documents. Confirm with OK".
