Word: line cannot be removed - so proceed
If a line cannot be removed in Word, this can have various causes. We'll show you how to get every line removed in Word anyway.
Remove line in Word - so it always works
To remove lines that appear horizontally in Word:
- First try to click on the line: If the line can be clicked and then small dots appear at both ends, you can simply delete the line with [Del].
- If you cross the line and the cursor changes into two opposite arrows, the line is a frame element.
- In the "Start" menu line, click in the "Paragraph" section on the symbol box for "Frame". More precisely: on the small arrow to the right.
- Now select "No frame" and the line disappears.
Remove dashed line in Word
If the dashed line cannot be removed as described above or if it is a vertical line, proceed as follows:
- First, move the mouse slowly over the line. Usually "Hide revisions" is displayed.
- Then click in the text where the line appears and then in the "Check" menu.
- Now click on "Track changes" and then on the right next to "Accept".
- Now the line has disappeared. Make sure that the large button "Track changes" is as light gray as the button next to it. Otherwise click on it again.
