Word: Roman and Arabic page numbers in one document
You can use both Roman and Arabic page numbers in a Word document. We'll show you how to do it best.
Word: Divide Arabic and Roman page numbers by page break
- Open your document in Word.
- Add page numbers to the whole document using the "Insert" -> "Page Number" tab. Word uses Arabic numbers by default.
- Now jump to the page where you want to use new numbers. For example, if you want to use the new numbering from page 2, place your cursor at the end of page 1.
- Click on the "Page layout" -> "Breaks" tab and select the section break "Next page".
- Now go to the page you want to start from and go back to "Insert" -> "Page Number".
- Click on "Format Page Numbers" there.
- Now select the new number format and under "Start at:" set the number with which you want to start the next section.
- To switch to the other number format, add a new break and let the original numbers continue there.
