If Microsoft Word's spell checker doesn't work, there can be several reasons. We'll help you fix spelling mistakes.
Word spell check no longer works
- The problem is often related to the fact that you accidentally changed the spelling checker language you selected. In this case, German words cannot be recognized as correct.
- It can also happen that several languages have been selected at the same time. In this case, incorrect word fragments in other languages are also recognized and are therefore no longer marked by the spell checker.
- In any error case, open the spell checker settings and first check that the correct language is selected.
- In Word 2013, you can access the settings via the Review tab and the fifth icon from the left.
- In order to avoid possible further errors, you should always have selected only one or a maximum of two correction languages. It's best to choose your preferred language as the default.
- Make sure that you have not checked the "Do not check spelling and grammar" option.
