Word: Quick access to frequently used folders
Quick access to Word folders saves a lot of time and you can easily activate it. We'll show you how to access your documents faster in the future.
Set up quick access in Word 2010
A few mouse clicks are enough for Word to access the folder in which you usually save your documents by default.
- First, open a document in Word 2010 that is in the folder of your choice.
- Then click the "File" tab.
- Then select "Recently used" in the menu bar on the far left.
- In the middle you see the most recently used documents and on the far right you will find the recently used folders.
- Behind the folders you will see a pin needle. Clicking on it changes the appearance and color of the needle. This is the sign that Word will automatically access this folder first in the future - when opening as well as when saving.
Set up quick access in Word 2013
Microsoft has made some small changes to Word 2013.
- In Word 2013, under File, click Open.
- The pin needle only appears after you move the mouse over the folders.
- The further procedure is identical to that under Word 2010.
