Word: Hyphenation doesn't work - you can do that
Word hyphenation sometimes does not work as intended. This is mostly due to the wrong attitude. We give you tips on how to set hyphenation correctly.
Hyphenation doesn't work - Word Tips
- The fact that the separation does not work may be due to the fact that the corresponding areas are not formatted correctly. Select the section where you want to separate the syllables and click "Page Layout"> "Hyphenation"> "Automatic".
- If the syllables are not separated afterwards, it may also be due to the style. Open the "Start" tab and right-click on the style that you are currently using. Choose Modify> Format> Paragraph. In the "Line and page break" tab, remove the checkmark from "No hyphenation".
- Also note that you have selected the correct language.
- Under "File"> "Options"> "Document check", activate the "Spell check as you type".
- If none of these steps lead to success, copy a part of your document as a test into a new, empty document. If hyphenation works there, the problem may be with your file. In this case, copy the entire document and paste it into a new one.
- If you get error messages, you should save your file and update or reinstall Word.
