Word: (not) split table at page break

By default, Word divides tables when a page breaks, so the table is split into two pages. However, you can set the table to appear completely on the following page if it does not match the end of the previous page. We'll show you how it works.
Word: Split table at page break
First, we'll show you how to format your spreadsheet so that it automatically splits when you break a page. The first part is then inserted at the end of the page, the second part slides to the beginning of the following page:
- Insert the table at the desired position via "Insert"> "Table".
- If you now fill it with so much content that it no longer fits on one page, Word will automatically split it into two pages.
Word: Do not split table when page breaks
If you do not want to split the table during a page break, you can do this with the following settings:
- Page break above: Select the first line of the table and click on the small icon in the "Layout" tab in the lower right corner of the "Paragraphs" area. In the "Line and page break" tab, select the option "Page break above" and deactivate all other options. Now Word always puts a page break above the table, regardless of whether there was enough space on the previous page.
- Do not separate paragraphs: Alternatively, you can specify that Word does not separate the paragraphs, i.e. the individual table rows. To do this, select all the rows in the table and open the paragraph options again. This time you only activate the option "Do not separate from the next paragraph". Word now places the table completely on the next page if there is not enough space at the end of the page.
On the next page, we will explain how you can precisely align a table in Word.
