With Word, you can easily have a text read to you. We show you how to do this in this practical tip.
How to set up the reading function in Word
In order for Word to be able to read a text at all, you must first set up this function. Here's how:
- Open Word.
- Click on "File" in the top left and then on "Options" at the bottom.
- In the newly opened window, select "Adjust ribbon".
- Decide on the "Select commands" tab for "All commands".
- Now look for the "Speak" command and select it. In other versions, it can also be the commands "speak text" or "text in speech" and the like.
- Select "Start" on the right or any other place and then click on "Add" in the middle.
- When everything is ready, end this action with "Ok". Word can now read texts to you.
How to have a text read out by Word
If the reading function is available, you can use it very easily. We show you how it works:
- Select any text or text in Word.
- Under "Start" or the area under which you have saved the command, select the item "Voice input". Word will now read the text or section of text to you.
- Clicking this icon again ends the reading.
