Word: Create two independent columns
Two independent columns make work easier if, for example, you want to present pro and contra arguments side by side in a Word document. This practical tip shows you how to create the columns in a few seconds.
Create independent columns in a Word document
The easiest way to create two independent columns in Word is with a table:
- To do this, first open the "Insert" tab in Word and look for the "Tables" section in the associated ribbon.
- Here you decide whether you want two or three columns.
- If you select three columns, you can use the third column in the middle to create a space between the other two columns.
- After you have filled the columns with your arguments, you can make the table frames "invisible". To do this, right-click on the table and select the "Frame and shading" option in the context menu.
- In the "Frames and Shades" menu, select the "Settings" under the "Frames" tab. Since you don't want a frame, choose the "None" option and then click "OK".
- Alternatively, you can also make the setting in the ribbon. To do this, simply click on "Frame" in the "Table styles" section.
