WordPress: Set up author image with Gravatar
If you want to show face on your WordPress blog, you can set up a picture with Gravatar for your author profile. In this practical tip, we will show you how.
Step 1: connect Gravatar to WordPress
Before you can assign a picture to your author profile in WordPress, you must connect your WordPress account to the "Gravatar" service:
- First open the Gravatar homepage.
- If you have a WordPress.com account, log in with it. To do this, click on "I already have a WordPress.com account!". Otherwise you have to fill in the fields to register.
Step 2: Set up a profile picture in Gravatar
As soon as you are registered on Gravatar.com, you can create your personal Gravatar:
- First select an email address or set a new one that you have saved in your WordPress blog. To do this, hover over your name in the top right and click on "Add an e-mail address".
- Then click on "add a new image" in the lower area to add an author image. If your WordPress.com account is connected to Gravatar, you may already have images to choose from.
Step 3: Set Gravatar in the WordPress blog
Finally, you need to set your Gravatar using the WordPress dashboard:
- Log in to your WordPress blog.
- Open the "Discussion" section in the main menu under "Settings".
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and set the "Gravatar Logo" as the default avatar (see picture).
