WordPress: format heading - how it works
In this guide, we explain how to format the headings of a WordPress theme according to your own ideas. So you can edit the color, size or font and customize themes to your blog.
Find a heading entry in the CSS of a WordPress theme
First log into WordPress and open your dashboard.
- Then open the WordPress editor via the "Design" menu item.
- On the right side you will find all files that belong to your template. At the bottom is the stylesheet or "style.css".
- Click in the text and use the key combination [Ctrl] + [F] to open the search field. Then enter the search term "h1".
- In the best case, you will be taken directly to the location of the stylesheet, where you will find the headings H1 to H2 lined up. Otherwise you have to click through the search results until you get there.
Format WordPress headings
In the CSS file you can do all the formatting of all headings. For example, if you want all headings to look the same except for the size, you can adjust the H1 to H6 entries and only change the size in descending order.
- To reduce the font size, for example, edit an entry such as "font-size: 24px" to "font-size: 20px".
- You can change the font color by editing the hex code - for example "color: # 343434".
