Set up Wordpress newsletter - with this plugin it works
WordPress does not provide a suitable plug-in for newsletters in the standard installation. This practical tip shows you where you can get it and how to set it up according to your wishes.
Install WordPress newsletter plugin
There are basically two ways to integrate the new functions into your blog. You can download and install the WordPress plugin by hand, or you can use the built-in installation routine in the administration area. You can also reread the individual steps in our picture gallery.
- Manual: Download the ZIP file and upload the "newsletter" folder to "[WordPress root] / wp-content / plugins /".
- Automatic: Log into the admin area and move your cursor in the left main menu via »Plugins« and then select »Add New«. Search for "newsletter" and click on "Install Now" for the Stefano Lissa newsletter plugin to start the installation process.
Activate and configure the WordPress newsletter plugin
If necessary, log in to the administration area of WordPress and click on the top category »Plugins«. If the installation was successful, the newsletter plug-in should now be listed and is ready to start the service via »Activate«. We show you here where you can find which options that you should definitely set.
- A new menu item »Newsletter« appears - click on it and then switch to »Configuration« in the submenu. In the "Basic Settings" you should enter the desired sender address, its display name and - if desired - an email address for replies.
- Now switch to "Subscription Steps" in the plug-in submenu to make important decisions about whether your subscribers have to verify their email addresses ("Double Opt In" or "Single Opt In") and which text modules will be sent when you register, Verification and de-registration.
- In the »Subscription Form« menu you can then change the appearance and the labels of the registration form and determine which information must be provided or which data users can enter in their future profile.
- Finally, you have to place the input field on your blog. Select "Appearance" in the left main menu and then the "Widgets" sub-item. Then drag »Newsletter« to the desired position in one of the three placement options "Primary Sidebar", "Content Sidebar" or "Footer Widget Area".
