WordPress: Server requirements for your own blog
Before you start installing WordPress, your server should meet the required requirements. You can find out exactly what these are in our practical tip.
WordPress: There are server requirements
- To process the website, your server should have PHP version 5.2.4 or higher.
- The MySQL database stores all of the content on your blog. Your server should therefore have MySQL version 5.0 or higher.
- The "mod_rewrite" function should be activated so that you can adapt your URLs.
- A server with a Linux Apache system is also recommended. However, WordPress still works on a Windows server.
- The PHP memory limit for your server should also be at least 32MB.
- Contact your provider if you are not sure whether the server meets these requirements.
