World of Warplanes: The three aircraft classes in comparison
So that you become an absolute ace of pilots in "World of Warplanes", you will find an overview of the three playable aircraft classes here.
World of Warplanes: mass battles above the clouds
At World of Warplanes, you can sit on the control stick of a fighter plane and fight other fighter planes or lay ground targets in ruins. You can choose from fighter planes from 1930 to the 1950s. The former four aircraft classes have now been merged into three aircraft classes. Read the details of fighter planes, heavy fighters, and attack aircraft below. All aircraft classes can be further improved by completing research projects on, for example, the propulsion or arming of your aircraft.
World of Warplanes aircraft classes: the fighter plane
These single-engine fighting machines make the aviator's heart beat faster. With them you can fly risky, breakneck maneuvers and make life difficult for other aviation races in the sky. The best-known representatives are the Messerschmitt Bf 109 series and the Supermarine Spitfire series.
- The fighter plane is fast and agile. It is ideal for dog fights with other fighters and for intercepting enemy bombers.
- The increased speed and maneuverability also have disadvantages: the fighter plane is more prone to damage and slightly armed compared to the other classes. Its range is also shorter.
- Fighter planes are not suitable for attacking ground targets, even if it is possible in principle.
World of Warplanes Aircraft Classes: The Attack Airplane
- The attack plane is the opposite of the fighter plane. It is heavily armored, slow and sluggish in maneuverability.
- You should only use the attack aircraft against ground targets.
- Attack aircraft have gun turrets to defend themselves, but rely heavily on their escort.
World of Warplanes Aircraft Classes: The Heavy Fighter
Heavy fighter planes are usually twin-engine and often have a rear gunner. The Messerschmitt Bf 110 is particularly well known.
- Heavy fighter planes are placed between the powerful attack aircraft and fighters. They are not as quick and agile as hunters, but better armored and armed. Compared to attack aircraft, they are faster and more agile.
- You can use heavy fighter planes as fighter-bombers and attack ground targets with them.
World of Warplanes Aircraft Classes: Carrier-based fighters
With patch 0.5.3, carrier-based fighter planes were included in the fighter plane class.
