World of Warships: Aim properly - how it works
Aiming properly in World of Warships is difficult at first and, above all, takes a lot of practice. We explain to you exactly what you have to pay attention to so that it works.
World of Warships: How to aim correctly
Basically, there are two important factors when aiming in World of Warships: the speed and direction of the enemy ship. Once you get a good feeling for this, every shot is a hit.
- Usually opposing ships do not stand still, so you are aiming at moving targets.
- The further away your target is, the longer it will take your projectiles to reach the target point.
- It follows from these factors that you have to pull right, i.e. aim at the point where you suspect the ship is when the projectiles land.
- Exactly where you have to aim depends on the bearing of the ship. If it moves to the left, aim a little to the left, if it moves to the right, aim a little to the right.
- The same applies: if the ship is coming towards you, aim something in front of it, sail away from you, aim behind it.
- Use the horizontal markings on your crosshairs for left-right movements.
- However, World of Warships is not limited to these axes in terms of movements, so make sure that you sometimes have to lean in two directions at the same time (e.g. slightly backwards and strongly to the right).
- How much you have to hold - i.e. the distance from your crosshair to the target ship - depends on the speed of the ship.
- This is difficult to generalize and simply requires practice because you have to train your eye for distances and speeds.
- However, according to the speed, it can be said that you have a lot to hold up for fast destroyers, mediocre for cruisers and porters and only comparatively little for battleships.
- The [ALT] key is also essential for all of this. If you hold it down, you will receive additional information about the targeted ship that can help you to maintain it correctly.
- Here you can find information about the distance and therefore the time your projectiles need.
World of Warships: Practice Aiming
Nobody is born a professional, so it makes sense to practice aiming in simple scenarios first.
- The simplest thing is to hit ships that simply move from their position on the right-left axis.
- With these, you can align the horizontal axis of the crosshair exactly at the height of the ship and practice only holding on one axis as a basic exercise for speeds.
- Next, you can look at ships that have a strong right-to-left tendency, but move slightly towards or away from you.
- For these ships, you only have to correctly assess which direction you are heading and then adjust the crosshairs slightly up or down. If the simple left-right shots already work, that shouldn't be a problem anymore.
- You can then use this to approach increasingly difficult shots until you arrive at ships that are heading straight for you or away from you and thus generally offer less target area.
