Insert root characters in OpenOffice - how it works
You cannot find the root symbol in the OpenOffice formula collection. Instead, you have to insert it with a little trick - we'll show you how it works.
OpenOffice: insert root sign
- Click on "Insert" in the menu bar and select the "OLE object" option under the "Object" category.
- Call here either "OpenOffice Formula" or via "Additional Objects" the "Microsoft Formula Editor".
- OpenOffice formula: A new area now opens in which you can enter the root using a command. You create the root of 7 by entering "sqrt {7}", the third root of 7 by "nroot {3} {7}".
- Microsoft Formula Editor: It is much easier with the editor. Simply select the root at the top of the window and you can type in any number. Then copy the root into OpenOffice.
