WWW2 and WWW3 websites: that's the reason
On one or the other website, instead of "www" at the beginning of the address there is also www2 or www3. You can find out what this means and what is behind it in this practical tip.
The importance of WWW2 and WWW3
Almost every website starts with "WWW", which stands for "World Wide Web". In the meantime, in the eyes of most internet users, it is simply the abbreviation that belongs to a domain - however, it is nothing more than a subdomain of the respective domain.
- Although "WWW" is not mandatory, it is common to use this abbreviation to indicate that it is an address on the World Wide Web.
- WWW2 and WWW3 are used to publish another website under the same domain.
- In addition, WWW2 domains and similar subdomains are used in the course of the so-called load distribution. In this way, requests are distributed to different servers, which can serve to relieve them.
- Any name can be used instead of WWW2 or WWW3, since it is ultimately only a subdomain.
