Install XBMC on Android - Here's how
The Xbox Media Center - formerly XBMC, now Kodi - has recently also become available for Android devices. We'll show you how to install the app and customize it for your device.
Download and install the Kodi app for Android
XBMC is now called Kodi. If you go to the Play Store after the XBMC, you will unfortunately not find anything. However, Kodi is available for download from the Play Store. However, you can also go another way.
- Download the setup file here. If you download the apk file from your computer, first copy the setup to your smartphone.
- Open the Settings app and tap on "Security". Activate the entry "Unknown sources". Now you can install apps that are not from the Play Store.
- Now run the apk file. You will find the setup in the download folder of your smartphone by default.
- Alternatively, you can install the apk by mail or via USB.
- Open Kodi after the app is installed.
Customize Kodi on Android smartphones
To get the most out of XBMC, you should do the following:
- Use the correct names of media files such as films so that XBMC or Kodi can download additional information.
- If you want to use a different skin, you have to tap on "System> Appearance> Skin> Skin Confluence". There are various designs to choose from. You can optionally download more from the Internet. However, make sure that the individual buttons are large enough. Otherwise the media center can no longer be operated.
- Under the "Add-On" tab, you can give Kodi even more features. Find the download add-ons you want and download them.
- XBMC is not available in the Play Store, under the Kodi name. You no longer have to carry out updates manually.
In order to use XBMC properly, you should first copy your music to your smartphone.
